Why Moringa is the next SuperFood!

Why Moringa is the next SuperFood!

At Tipson, we love our moringa! Moringa oleifera is a plant that is often called the drumstick tree, the miracle tree, the ben oil tree, or horseradish tree. Moringa has been used for centuries due to its medicinal properties and health benefits. This is why at Tipson we have a wide range of moringa based products. But, what makes moringa the next super food?

Packed with Essential Nutrients

Many of the healthy food items you eat have a single standout nutrient that make it special. Think carrots and vitamin A, lemon and vitamin C, milk and vitamin D, nuts and vitamin E. However, moringa is a slight anomaly as one cup of chopped leaves is considered a good source of iron, calcium, vitamin C, vitamin B6, and riboflavin and has notable amounts of potassium, vitamin A, vitamin E, and magnesium. In fact, the leaves are more concentrated in vitamin C than oranges themselves! That means moringa can contribute to everything from better vision and immunity to bone health and skin radiance. If that does not describe a super food, we really do not know what does!

Moringa helps lower blood sugar levels

The modern human beings diet is full of sugar, and over time, high blood sugar levels raise the risk of many serious health problems, including heart disease. For this reason, it’s important to keep your blood sugar within healthy limits. Interestingly, several studies have shown that Moringa may help lower blood sugar levels. One study in 30 women showed that taking 1.5 teaspoons (7 grams) of moringa leaf powder every day for three months reduced fasting blood sugar levels by 13.5%! Scientists believe these effects are caused by plant compounds such as isothiocyanates. So, if you want to feel less guilty about that mid-week dessert, moringa is the way to go!

Moringa protects your liver

The weekend can really take a toll on your liver, especially when you have a few too many of your favourite cocktails. Think of your liver as the body's detoxifier. It filters the blood, detoxifies chemicals, and metabolizes fat—and moringa may help it work better. First off, moringa contains high concentrations of polyphenols to reverse oxidation in the liver, and preliminary research has shown moringa consumption to reduce liver fibrosis and protect against liver damage.

It is packed with proteins

Whether you're a vegetarian or just trying to cut down on meat, it's not always easy finding convenient plant-based protein. Sure, there are lentils and tempeh, but sometimes you just want a quick, no-cook add-in your diet. That's where moringa comes in. Our range of moringa based herbal infusions made from crushed leaves are packed with protein—3 grams of protein per tablespoon, in fact—and have a leg up on legumes because they contain all the essential amino acids, necessary for muscle repair, energy production, and mood regulation.

Super foods are becoming quite common these days and include cholesterol-zapping oats, almonds that tackle heart disease, and chia seeds that fight diabetes. Moringa, however, is a more powerful hero than most. Its small, tender leaves contain all nine essential amino acids, making it a complete source of protein. It’s also rich in iron, vitamin B6, and potassium. As nutritious as it is, consuming moringa can be quite a task, especially since you have to find the leaves and then grind it in order for it to be consumed. Tipson solves this problem by giving you all the goodness of moringa in a convenient tea bag which you simply need to add to hot water!
